The proposal may have come into your life as a surprise, but what it shouldn’t come at this point is how much the resulting wedding will cost you. Because whether you’ve said “Yes, I do” once, were at the altar as a member of a wedding, or just attended a destination wedding, you know how expensive they can be, and if you’ve forgotten, the father of the bride is often more than willing to remind you one more time.

But this does not mean that you should cancel your dreams of getting married overlooking the ocean or in a hillside retreat. We did our research and found some romantic places where you can have a beautiful destination wedding on a budget.

The Dominican Republic:

Almost always makes the list of affordable beach destinations. Not only is it relatively easy to get to, with direct flights departing from the US and Europe on a daily basis, but it is full of all-inclusive resorts, many of which offer affordable package deals.

Plus, conveniently for couples on a budget, peak wedding season falls heavily during the Dominican Republic’s off-season, which means cheaper flights, cheaper room rates, and quieter hotel atmospheres for your big day.

Sure, June through September can be very hot and humid, and hurricanes are a possibility in recent months, but come on, what are the chances?

Jamaica:

It may not have an international airport, but Negril is nevertheless easy and relatively cheap to get to (visitors fly to the airport in Montego Bay and then take a ferry) and has some of the cheapest digs in Jamaica, which is already one of the most affordable of the Caribbean islands. Famous for its Seven Mile Beach, one of the longest and softest beaches in the country.

Negril is a popular destination wedding venue, and couples and guests can save money here in many ways — not just room rates. They’re low (the area is home to an eclectic jumble of beachfront motels, cliffside cabanas, and hippie bungalows), but public transportation is convenient, safe, and cheap, and you can find great seafood almost everywhere on the town. the wall along the beach.

Lake Tahoe:

It is probably better known for skiing than weddings, but around 300 sunny days a year, great-value hotels, and plenty of activities in the area make it a solid choice for a budget destination wedding. Couples can say “Yes, I do” against the backdrop of one of the most beautiful lakes in the US, host the reception in a charming alpine cabin-style setting, and then spend their first sweet days as a married couple.

Traveling through picturesque trails in the area. All for an extremely reasonable price. It’s a great option for San Francisco residents in particular, as the trip takes about three and a half hours.

Thailand:

Although Thailand seems like an exotic and expensive destination, it doesn’t have to be. Thailand is above all an adventure destination and if you are in the mood for a low budget but very cool honeymoon, this could be the ideal destination.

The secret is to buy the flights well in advance, this is not new news, but if you really plan everything and do it in time, the flight can cost you less than half the normal price, that is, almost as a flight to Las Vegas or any common destination in the United States. Another tip is to make the trip in the low season. From the month of May, the weather is good and there are not so many tourists so you can find the cheapest accommodations.

Food is super cheap and so is transportation. In addition, internal flights in the country are quite acceptable. Contrasts, chaos, and spectacular nature, with the paradisiacal beaches that in other areas of the world would involve a much greater outlay.

Greek islands:

The Greek Islands are a true paradise that is home to 600 islands of fantastic cut, true jewels of nature delivered to pure life. Some are well known, such as Mykonos and Santorini, unique pieces of white, blue, and spectacular waters; or less touristy and equally stunning beaches, such as Halkidiki.

To enjoy them at a good price, you have to go between April and June or in September and October, since in summer the prices soar. If you really want to save, look to have it all in a cruise package, this sounds expensive but it is not. You will have accommodation, transfers, and visits to the best destinations for an incredible price. A very interesting alternative.

Peru:

One of the cheapest and most beautiful places to visit in Peru. Flights are not super cheap, but once you get there, you would be surprised how cheap everything is.

The secret is to travel from September to November and from March to May. As always, the dates to avoid are summer. Visit Machu Picchu or the Inca trails, and enjoy the charm of Cusco or Lima. In Peru, nature is key, but also the trace of the Inca man with his unquestionable legacy. Also, enjoy one of the most delicious cuisines in the world at very low prices.

Yucatan:

If you decide to stay within Mexico, one of the most beautiful regions to visit is the Mexican southeast. The good idea is to make a road trip that passes through Campeche and reaches Yucatán. The landscapes and the beaches are impressive, especially in all the parts of Campeche.

And when you arrive in Yucatan, the accommodations have very good prices, the food is cheap and there is much to see and visit. Try to visit some cenotes that are not so touristy and eat in the small towns that you will find along the way; you will taste the typical Yucatecan food that is a delight and you will not have to spend so much. Trust us, you won’t regret it.

Prague + Budapest:

If you want to take a trip to Europe but without spending too much, we recommend two destinations that seem to go hand in hand on great European trips and that are not expensive at all. The first is Prague, a city like something out of a story, in which every building, every square, every corner, will make you feel like you’re in a movie.

Its beauty is indisputable. Enjoy its squares, its puppet markets, and its bohemian reminiscences, as the city was the place of residence for many artists. The second is Budapest, where you can travel from Prague by plane, by train or if you want it to be even cheaper.

You can do it by bus since these cities are very close. In this country, the magnificent Parliament and the hot springs stand out, where you can dive into the most luxurious past. All this at a minimum cost, since they are very cheap and beautiful cities.

Brussels + Bruges + Ghent + Antwerp:

Other key circuits for a fairytale trip within budget are Brussels, Bruges, Ghent, and Antwerp. These cities seem straight out of the stories of palaces, witches, and wizards.

You have to start the trip to Brussels, where also the flights are not so expensive. There you can visit its historical places and eat for very low prices in the “fripperies” which are places where they sell fried things such as croquettes, banderillas, and French fries, which by the way are originally from this place and not from France.

After Brussels, the true immersion into the world of fairies begins with Bruges and Ghent, two cities that circulate as a tandem for most of the tourist routes. Squares, buildings, houses, and parks that look like the work of the Brothers Grimm. Finally, the bohemian, artistic, and sustainable touch in Antwerp, one of those cities to remember.

Wrap It Up:

They say that who does not travel, it is because they do not want to, will it be true? There is no excuse not to have an amazing trip without breaking the budget. As you can see, it is not necessary to spend as much as you imagined to enjoy the wonders of our world. Why don’t you pack your bags?
